What led to a burning body inside a car in a cornfield?
Investigators hope to answer that question.
Delaware fire investigators say a body was discovered in a car found burning in a Delmar cornfield yesterday.
The state fire marshal's office says a fire was reported in a cornfield about a half mile from the road on Mount Herman Circle on Tuesday evening. Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael Chionchio says firefighters responded to the fire and found a person dead inside the burning car.
The state fire marshal's office and state police detectives are investigating. Chionchio says the state medical examiner's office will conduct an autopsy to determine to cause and manner of death and identify the person.
Damage from the fire was estimated at $2,000.
Delmar is located about 100 miles south of Wilmington.
