Two people are in the hospital after a shooting and robbery in Cheltenham Township.

Police say a gunman entered the second floor of an apartment on 22 Central Avenue near Cottman Avenue shortly before 5 p.m. on Monday.

The suspect allegedly held a 25-year-old man and a 26-year-old man inside at gunpoint and demanded that they give up their money, wallets, cell phones and any money from their safe.

Police say the suspect then shot the 26-year-old man in the right knee and pistol-whipped him. The 25-year-old man then jumped out of the window to escape, suffering a head injury in the process.

Police say the suspect struggled briefly with the 26-year-old man and then fled on foot on Jefferson Avenue. The suspect is described as a man in his 20's, standing 5-foot-10 and weighing 200 pounds with a beard. Police also say he was wearing a black puffy coat, black beanie style-hat, black pants and was carrying a silver handgun.

Both victims were taken to Abington Hospital where they were listed in stable condition.

If you have any information on the incident, please call the Cheltenham Police Detective Unit at 215-885-1600 ext. 499.
