Masked Men Tie Up Resident, Ransack Philadelphia Home as Wife, Grandson Hide Under Bed

Two armed masked men burst into a home in Philadelphia’s Frankford neighborhood Wednesday morning then tied up a resident as they ransacked the home.

Officers responded to the 1300 block of Sellers Street around 3:30 a.m. to find a 51-year-old man – tied up – who said two men used an alleyway to break the rear glass of the home and enter the home.

“He was awoken by two guns pointed at his face,” said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small. “They tied him up – they tied him with electrical cords, his wrists behind his back –they also gagged him by tying what appeared to be a button-down shirt around his mouth.”

The man’s 52-year-old wife and his 10-year-old grandson hid under a bed in another room as the attack took place.

Luckily, no one was hurt.

The boy told NBC10's Monique Braxton that the men screamed about a Dodge Charger. But, the family doesn't have a Charger.

The men made off with some cash as well as a PlayStation and a 56-inch flat-screen television after ransacking the home. The family also says they stole car keys but didn't take the car.

Small said surveillance images may have captured the suspects.
