Year of Firsts: Go to Neighbor's Home Concert

Day 101

Musical compositions, it should be remembered, do not inhabit certain countries, certain museums, like paintings and statues. The Mozart Quintet is not shut up in Salzburg: I have it in my pocket. ~Henri Rabaud

My neighbor Ed Segal has been asking us to come to his home for his annual classical concert for several years.  We've never been able to make it, until tonight.

Wow. We've really been missing something. Check out Shannon Lee on the violin.

Ed's living room was filled with family and friends and his 102 year old mom sat on the front row. I  had no idea we were in for such a treat. Classical guitarist Jason Vieaux, (a friend of Shannon's) played first.

Ed's relative's joke that this is Ed's Little Kimmel. (These guys would normally play at Philadelphia's Kimmel Center and other grand music halls.)  Oxana Harlamova was wonderful on the piano. (So sorry we didn't have a good view of her. )

Ed is a dentist, and he says that's how he met Shannon.

I am not a classicial music aficionado. I honestly don't know Bach from Beethoven. But I do know when I hear beautiful music. What a sweet night.  Thanks Ed.
