New App Tracks Potholes in NJ

Looking for a way to avoid potholes in New Jersey? It turns out thereโ€™s an app, and a map for that.

A new interactive website shows pothole-weary drivers which areas to avoid. Vertices, an NJ-based company, created a special mapping site in which people can report potholes they come across in the garden state.

โ€œEverybodyโ€™s having a really hard time trying to figure out where these potholes are, as they happen,โ€ said Keith Kim, operations manager of Vertices.

Through the website, which launched on February 20, and smartphone app, users provide locations and comments about the potholes as well as descriptions, alerting drivers and repair crews.

โ€œIn just over a week, we got more than 600 reports of potholes all over New Jersey,โ€ Kim said. โ€œOver 70 percent of those have been designated as dangerous.โ€
