"The Secretary of Defense" will be one of the newest members of the Hall of Fame, according to a report.
Former Sixer Bobby Jones, an eight-time NBA All-Defensive First Team selection, has reportedly been selected for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Bobby Jones has been selected for enshrinement into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2019, sources tell ESPN. The NBA Sixth Man of the Year for the 1982-83 season, Jones will join Maurice Cheeks, Julius Erving and Moses Malone as members of that championship team in the Hall of Fame. He'll be the 17th Sixers player inducted.
A 6-foot-9 forward, Jones averaged 10.7 points on 54.2 percent shooting, 4.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.1 blocks during his eight seasons with the Sixers. He played at the University of North Carolina from 1971-1974 and was part of the U.S. men's basketball team that competed in the Olympics in 1972.
Jones' teammates and coaches appreciated all of his contributions that didn't show up in the box score.

''Bobby can complement anybody's game,'' Erving told The New York Times in 1981. ''I'm learning from him. So many of the things he does are difficult for the fans to understand or appreciate. His contributions can't always be measured by what shows up in the stats. Just Bobby's mere court presence is enough to beat you."
Forward Chris Webber, who played 114 of his 831 career regular-season games with the Sixers, was reportedly not inducted.
