Pa.'s Richmond Miss Mark, Finishes 16th

Army marksman fails to make it out of the qualifying round

Army Staff Sgt. Joshua Richmond failed to make it out of the qualification round of Men’s Double Trap shooting at the Olympics Thursday morning.

The Hillsgrove, Pa. native placed 16th out of 23 shooters in the competition. He place in the middle of the pack with a 44 in the first round but fell behind after posting only 42 in the second round.

His final score of 131 (average of .873) was six points off the pace to qualify for the six-man final.

Richmond, 26, trains as part of the heralded U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit.

Fellow Army Marksmanship Unit member Glenn Eller placed 22nd in the competition.
