Eagles' Alshon Jeffery Back to His Prognosticating Ways

One of the first people I talked to in the locker room after the Eagles' Super Bowl win back in 2018 was Alshon Jeffery.

He deserved some credit.

"I guess you were right," I said, giving him a much-deserved chance to gloat.

After his Bears finished with a 3-13 record in 2016, Jeffery guaranteed a Super Bowl win the next season. Then he signed with the Eagles. And throughout that season he made sure to clarify that he never specified a team.

"Man, what I told y'all," he said, grinning, in the wee hours of the next morning as the celebration kept going.

No, it looks like Alshodamus is at it again.

Jeffery has never been short on confidence and he has a reason to be excited about this season. The trio with him, DeSean Jackson and Nelson Agholor could be the best trio of receivers in Eagles history. If you add them to tight ends Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert and if Carson Wentz gets back to his MVP-like form, the Eagles' offense could be really dangerous.

We're obviously a long way from the start of the season and there's a ton of work to be done, but the Eagles do have a roster that should compete this season. After sneaking into the playoffs as a wild card team in 2018, they seem to be in a two-team race with the Cowboys to win the NFC East in 2019.

Maybe I'll be in Miami in 10 1/2 months ready to give Alshon his credit again. If that happens, we'll think about this moment.
