Flyers Trade for Rasmus Ristolainen, Send Robert Hagg, 2021 1st-Round Pick to Sabres

Flyers part ways with 2021 1st-round pick in trade for another D-man originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia

Chuck Fletcher continued his wheeling and dealing Friday as he reshapes the Flyers' roster ahead of a big 2021-22 season.

The general manager acquired defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen from the Sabres. The price to do so was not cheap. The Flyers sent Buffalo the 13th overall pick in tonight's NHL draft, Robert Hagg and 2023 second-round selection.

In the span of a week, Fletcher has acquired Ryan Ellis and Ristolainen, while giving up Philippe Myers, Nolan Patrick, Shayne Gostisbehere, Hagg and four draft picks.

And the draft and free agency are still ahead. Busy July, indeed.

Ristolainen, 26, is a 6-foot-4, bruising defenseman who has played just under 24 minutes per game in his career.
