The New Jersey Devils were able to even the series Friday night as they topped the Flyers 5-3. The game was knotted at three until Dainius Zubrus scored with four minutes left in the third period.
It was a back-and-forth game with both teams having the lead but never holding more than a one-goal lead. The Devils took the early lead just three minutes into the game but the Flyers were able to come back and take the lead 2-1.
Arron Asham tied the game in the first period and Claude Giroux gave the Orange and Black the lead six minutes later as the Flyers went into the second period holding a 2-1 advantage.
Colin White tied the game up for the Devils before Andy Greene gave them a 3-2 lead with a power play goal with six minutes left to play in the second period.
Chris Pronger then scored his second goal of the playoffs as he tied the game at three with a power play strike. The teams went into the third period all tied up at three.
Boucher was able to keep the Devils out of the net until Zubrus’ goal with four minutes left to play. The Devils then added an empty net goal by Ilya Kovalchuk to make the final score 5-3.
The series now turns to Philadelphia as the Flyers and Devils face-off again Sunday night at 6 p.m. at the Wachovia Center.
