Union Sign Fourth-round Pick, Midfielder Cole Missimo

The Union on Tuesday announced that they have officially signed speedy 23-year-old midfielder Cole Missimo. He was the club's fourth-round selection in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Missimo is the fifth player out of the 2016 draft to sign with the Union.

"We have really been encouraged by the young class we have assembled this offseason and Cole is an important piece to that," said Union sporting director Earnie Stewart. "He will provide the kind of depth on the wing that we value here and we have the confidence he will harness his potential into developing into the player we know he can be."

Out of Northwestern University, Missimo, 6-foot-1, is a versatile flank midfielder able to play either side of the field and with different styles. The Dallas native made 56 starts in 76 games over four seasons for Northwestern, scoring seven goals and 12 assists.

Missimo is expected to add midfield depth to the Union roster, while crafting his game and logging game time with the Union's USL affiliate, the Bethlehem Steel.
