Tonight's Lineup: Ryan Howard Phillies' DH; Maikel Franco Sits With Mild Right Knee Sprain

Updated: 5:30 p.m.

Both Tommy Joseph and Ryan Howard are in the Phillies' lineup for Monday's series opener in Toronto, Joseph starting at first base and Howard serving as the designated hitter.

The Phils play two games at Rogers Centre this week, giving Howard an opportunity for playing time after Joseph officially moved ahead of him on the depth chart. Howard has the most experience of any Phillies hitter against Monday's opponent, R.A. Dickey, against whom he's 4 for 22 (.182) with no extra-base hits, no walks and five strikeouts.

Joseph has never faced Dickey. It will be a new test for the young first baseman, facing an experienced knuckleballer.

Maikel Franco sits for the Phillies because of a mild right knee sprain. He's considered day to day after suffering the injury in a rundown during Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Nationals in which he hit a go-ahead home run in the top of the ninth inning. Andres Blanco starts at third base and bats third.
