Comcast Spectacor Bringing Professional Lacrosse Back to Philadelphia

Professional lacrosse is coming back to Philadelphia.

Comcast Spectacor is set to acquire a National Lacrosse League franchise, as a team name and further details will be announced during a press conference Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Wells Fargo Center. The new franchise will become the 10th team in the NLL.

Philadelphia's previous team, the Wings, played in the NLL before relocating to New England in 2014 to become the Black Wolves. The Wings were established in 1986.

Comcast Spectacor president and CEO Dave Scott, as well as NLL commissioner Nick Sakiewicz and other key figures, will be on hand Thursday for the formal announcement.

Comcast Spectacor also owns the Flyers and the Wells Fargo Center.
