Eagles Officially Sign Braxton Miller, 2 Others to Practice Squad

The Eagles did some practice squad re-shifting and have officially brought in a big name to join the 10-man squad.

After it was reported this weekend, the Eagles announced they signed former Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller to their practice squad.

Miller was a third-round pick as a receiver in 2016, but his NFL career hasn't quite gone to plan. In two years with the Houston Texans, Miller caught 34 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns. He was released earlier this month. Miller had a few teams interested in him but decided to join the Eagles.

The Eagles clearly made a concerted effort to upgrade their practice squad receivers. In addition to Miller, they also signed Reggie Davis and Dorren Miller to their practice squad and released tight end Billy Brown.

On Friday, the Eagles released Greg Ward and Rashard Davis from their practice squad. Both receivers had been with the Eagles throughout training camp, but clearly, the Birds had seen enough.

Davis began his career with the Falcons in 2017, then was claimed by the Browns and spent less than a month in Cleveland before he went back to Atlanta. The undrafted 22-year-old from Georgia was waived by the Falcons at final cuts this year.

Miller, 24, was with the Jaguars as an undrafted player out of Carson-Newman. He was released at final cuts.
