Eagles Inactives: Lane Johnson Is Out; Halapoulivaati Vaitai Will Start

After spending all week hoping to play, Lane Johnson is inactive for Sunday Night Football against the Cowboys.

Johnson already had a high ankle sprain when he suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain a little over two weeks ago in London. He had been limited in practice all week and wore a brace on his left knee. Johnson came into the weekend listed as questionable.

Without Johnson, Halapoulivaati Vaitai is expected to start at right tackle. Big V, of course, took over for Jason Peters at left tackle for most of last season, but has been shaky in spot duty this year.

Keep an eye on Big V against DeMarcus Lawrence, who is one of the best pass rushers in the NFL. Johnson handled him last year.

The Eagles' other questionable player coming into this week, Josh Sweat, is active. Sweat popped up on the injury report Friday with a hip injury and missed the light practice.

Here's the full list of Eagles' inactive players:

Lane Johnson (knee)
Jalen Mills (foot)
Sidney Jones (hamstring)
Darren Sproles (hamstring)
Matt Pryor
Nate Sudfeld
Diondre' Hall

Without Mills and Jones, the Eagles are light in the secondary. Either Avonte Maddox will slide down to the nickel corner spot or Cre'Von LeBlanc will play there. Rasul Douglas will start outside for Mills.

In addition to Golden Tate, two other players are making their Eagles debuts on Sunday night: LeBlanc and T.Y. McGill.
