Eagles Add Tre Sullivan to Practice Squad, Release De'Vante Bausby

The Eagles made a small swap on Tuesday afternoon, adding S Tre Sullivan to their practice squad and releasing CB De'Vante Bausby to make room.

Sullivan was just waived from the active roster last week after new safety Deiondre' Hall was activated from the suspension list. After a few days, Sullivan is finally back on the practice squad.

The Eagles traded a conditional seventh-round pick for Hall, so he was clearly going to be on the roster and they didn't need five safeties on their 53. So Sullivan was the odd man out.

It wasn't that long ago that Sullivan not only looked like a lock to make the team, but also looked like the front-runner to be the Eagles' third safety, which would be quite an accomplishment for a second-year player out of Shepherd.

But then the Eagles brought back Corey Graham, who immediately took over as their third safety. And then at final cuts, even though Sullivan made the initial 53-man roster, the Eagles traded for Hall. Sullivan spent a week on the roster and played in the opener before Hall was activated from his one-game suspension.

Sullivan had a big mistake in the Atlanta game, getting dragged into a live ball on a punt. The fumble gave the Falcons the ball back late in the third quarter of the one-score game. It was a big mistake, but it seemed likely Sullivan was going to get cut either way.

This move also marks a big slide for Bausby, who was once getting reps with the first team at slot corner this spring. But then he was passed by Sidney Jones and Avonte Maddox as he played poorly in the summer. He didn't make the 53-man roster, something that surprised a few folks.

Now, Bausby isn't even with the team on the practice squad. Quite a fall.
