Nick Cole protected Donovan McNabb for the final seven games of last season.

The Eagles resigned offensive lineman Nick Cole to a one-year deal, the team announced Tuesday.

Cole started the Eagles last four regular season games and three playoffs games at right guard. He was forced into that role after Sean Andrews and Max Jean-Gilles were both lost to injury.

The 24-year-old center/guard/blocking back originally signed with the Birds as a rookie free agent in 2006.

Cole was a restricted free agent.

He should continue to serve his roles on special teams and as reserve on the offensive line.
