Karen Brown is the Republican running for mayor of Philadelphia and if you meet her on the street, she'll shake your hand and tell you right away that she's the woman running for mayor.
Brown answered viewer questions and questions from NBC10 Political Contributor Steve Highsmith in a special edition of @Issue. A former Catholic school teacher, the 51-year-old says she doesn’t want to be a “politician” but a “public servant."
When asked why she's running, Brown tells NBC10 "I'm doing it because I believe someone has to start caring about this city." She faces incumbent, Democrat Michael Nutter and Independent Wali "Diop" Rahman in the November 8th election.
Here are her answers about issues ranging from education to crime to rubber rooms and her family's cars being vandalized during the campaign.
