Pennsylvania LCB Delivers Alcohol Right to Your Door

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board will now deliver alcohol to home and business addresses, for a small fee.

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board quietly changed a long-lasting practice last week.

The new change allows shipments of wine and liquor to home and business addresses, according to an article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

“It’s a pretty big change,” said board spokeswoman Stacey Witalek.

Previously, customers could order specific wine or liquor and only pick it up at state-run stores.  Now costumers can have shipments delivered to homes or businesses for a $14 shipping fee.

Witalek said the board debated on the change for several years, fearing the alcohol would land in the hands of underage people more easily.  To keep that from happening, the board and its shipping partner UPS will require a signature and valid photo ID at the time of delivery.

Costumers will be charged a $14 shipping fee for orders of one to three bottles and an additional dollar for each bottle beyond that.
