U.S. Strikes ISIS, Biden Vows β€œNorth to South” Support

Military warplanes launched another round of airstrikes in Iraq against an ISIS target northwest of Erbil on Friday, U.S. officials told NBC News. Two Navy F-18 fighter jets dropped two 500 pound bombs earlier in the day near the Kurdish capital where the U.S. has a consulate. ISIS was using artillery to shell Kurdish forces defending the city, the Pentagon said. The warplanes returned a short time after its first strike to hit the target a second time, according to officials. Vice President Joe Biden, who called Iraq's president on Friday, pledged support for the Iraqi government "from north to south."
