Sam Peckinpah's "Straw Dogs" is just the latest iconic film to get a remake. If the new trailer is any indication, it's not gonna live up to its predecessor.
This new version, from director Rod Lurie ("The Contender"), stars James Marsden and Kate Bosworth as a young couple who move back to her childhood home, where they encounter a gang of roofers, led by Alexander Skarsgard. Next thing you know, Skarsgard and his crew go crazy, trying to break into the home, presumably to kill Marsden and Bosworth. Check it out:

Peckinpah's 1971 original, which starred Dustin Hoffman, is a brilliant and terrifying psychological thriller, while this looks to be little more than a more than a piece of home invasion horror-lite. Hope we're wrong.
"Straw Dogs" comes out Sept. 16.
