A Newark man has pleaded guilty to five armed carjackings over the course of 17 days in June 2012.
Prosecutors said 21-year-old Jahleel McLendon pleaded guilty Wednesday to five counts of theft of a motor vehicle by force, violence and intimidation.
The carjackings included two on one day on June 15, 2012, when prosecutors say McLendon and an accomplice carjacked a Chevrolet Trailblazer at gunpoint and then carjacked a BMW 20 minutes later at a gas station.
He was arrested less than two hours after his final carjacking on June 22, 2012.
McLendon is scheduled to be sentenced March 23.
