Man Arrested in Murder of S.C. Couple on Caribbean Island

St. Maarten police arrested Sunday a suspect in last week’s slaying of a South Carolina couple on the Caribbean island, The Associated Press reported. The bodies of Michael and Thelma King —both in their 50s and part-time residents of the Dutch territory— were found Friday in their condominium at the Ocean Club Resort, Chief Prosecutor Hans Mos told the AP. The woman was tied to a chair while the man was lying on the floor, partially over an overturned chair. Police spokesman Ricardo Henson said a male suspect was arrested but had not been charged yet. Henson cited the territory’s privacy rules in not disclosing further details about the suspected murderer.
