Kanye West has a message for his beloved mother on what would have been her 67th birthday.
Donda West died in 2007 a day after undergoing plastic surgery. Nine years later, the Grammy-winning rapper is paying tribute to the woman who raised him with a few sweet remarks. He mentions his daughter, North, in the post.
"NORI ASKED IF THE AIRPLANE COULD TAKE HER TO HEAVEN TO SEE YOU FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY, I LOVE YOU MOM," he tweeted Tuesday night, including a photo of his younger self smiling with his arm around Donda.
Since her death, Donda's memory has lived on in West's career. As his former manager, West commemorated her in his 2015 hit collaboration with Sir Paul McCartney, "Only One."
After debuting his Yeezy Season 3 line in early February, West also sold t-shirts with his mother's face on them along with the words "In Loving Memory."
His wife, Kim Kardashian, also paid homage to her late mother-in-law, retweeting a fan montage of photos and videos of West and Donda together, set to his 2005 song "Hey Mama."

Since the loss nearly a decade ago, West has rarely discussed his mother or the circumstances surrounding her death in public. However, in 2015, he did broach the topic briefly in the August issue of the U.K. music magazine Q.
"If I had never moved to L.A. she'd be alive," Kanye told the magazine. "I don't want to go far into it because it will bring me to tears."
