Elderly Woman Stuck on Toilet for Days

A piece of the toilet was still attached to the woman when medics removed her

An elderly Philadelphia woman was rescued from her toilet Tuesday morning after it was discovered that she had been trapped on the commode for days inside her Tioga apartment.

A piece of the toilet was still attached to the woman -- who is believed to be in her 80s or 90s -- when medics took her from her home, authorities say.

The woman was trapped on her toilet for two to three days, authorities say.

Her predicament was discovered at about 11 a.m. when someone called 9-1-1. She was transported from her apartment at the Presbyterian Apartments and Senior Center on the 1500 block of Tioga Street about 30 minutes later.

How the woman’s circumstances were discovered is still unknown.

The woman is in stable condition at Temple Hospital where she is being treated for dehydration, authorities say.

Units in the building are equipped with "emergency" cords, according to fellow residents.

Authorities are investigating how this happened.

Fellow residents said the unidentified woman didn't get out much.
