A western Pennsylvania church member has been charged with preying on a fellow worshiper by getting the other woman to give her more than $281,000, supposedly because it was "God's will."
The Allegheny County district attorney's office says 35-year-old Judith Irvin, of Turtle Creek, was able to convince the victim to give her money or make purchases for Irvin, in part, because the victim is suffering from post-concussion syndrome that clouds her judgment.
Online court records don't list an attorney for Irvin, who faces a preliminary hearing June 10 on theft charges.
According to a criminal complaint released Thursday, Irvin told the other woman that "God came to her in her dreams" and told her that the victim was "the chosen one to help people."
The purchases included Louis Vuitton purses and a diamond ring.
