A teen boy is recovering after he was shot while riding an ATV in West Philadelphia, Tuesday afternoon.
The 16-year-old boy was on an ATV at 46th and Market streets when an unidentified gunman opened fire. Witnesses told NBC10 the suspect was inside a car chasing after the teen for several blocks. They also said the gunman fired at least eight shots.
The teen was shot once in the left leg and bullets also struck nearby cars. He was taken to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where he is currently in stable condition.
No one else was hurt during the shooting.
A weapon has not been recovered and no arrests have been made. Police have not yet released a description of any suspects.
The boy is the fourth teen shooting victim in less than a week in Philadelphia. A 14-year-old boy was shot Monday night while hanging out with friends in Southwest Philadelphia. A 16-year-old boy and 17-year-old boy were also shot by a gunman on a SEPTA subway train last Wednesday.
Residents who spoke with NBC10 after Tuesday's shooting said they want more recreation centers and city schools open throughout the summer along with a curfew to keep teens safe.
