Video Allegedly Shows Ray Rice Dragging Unconscious Fiancee

Four days after his arrest, a new video has surfaced that allegedly shows NFL superstar Ray Rice dragging his unconscious fiancee.

On Saturday, shortly before 3 a.m., Rice, a 27-year-old running back for the Baltimore Ravens, along with his fiancée 26-year-old Janay A. Palmer, were arrested at the Revel Casino in Atlantic City.

Investigators say police determined Rice and Palmer were involved in a physical altercation and that both struck each other with their hands. A criminal complaint obtained by NBC10 accuses Rice of striking Palmer with his hand and rendering her unconscious.

Both Rice and Palmer refused medical attention and did not report any injuries. They were both charged with simple assault-domestic violence and released on a summons.

On Wednesday, TMZ posted a video from the Revel which allegedly shows Rice dragging Palmer out of an elevator. The woman in the video appears to be unconscious. Shortly after, the man tries to help her up and she appears to regain consciousness and is on her knees seconds later. A law enforcement source told NBC10 that the TMZ video appears to be legitimate.

While Rice and Palmer were both released, the investigation of the alleged incident continues. The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office is currently reviewing the case at the request of the Atlantic City Police Department to “ensure that all appropriate charges are considered.”

Rice played at Rutgers University in New Jersey before being drafted by the Ravens in the 2008 draft. He ran for more than 1,000 yards in four straight seasons from 2009-12 before gaining only 660 yards on the ground in 2013, in part because of a hip injury that forced him to miss a game in September and hampered his effectiveness the rest of the way.

He is the Ravens' career leader in total yards from scrimmage (9.214) and ranks second behind Jamal Lewis in yards rushing.
