Tom Wolf Visits Farm Show with Agriculture Pick

Gov.-elect Tom Wolf is visiting the Pennsylvania Farm Show with his pick to lead the state's Agriculture Department.

Wolf and Russell Redding were expected to arrive at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg around 9 a.m.

Redding served just over a year as agriculture secretary at the end of Gov. Ed Rendell's second term, finishing in early 2011.

He's the dean of agriculture and environmental sciences at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown. His family has an Adams County dairy farm.

The weeklong Farm Show features events ranging from rodeos to pie contests as well as nearly 6,000 animals and 10,000 competitive exhibits. It bills itself the largest indoor agricultural event in the nation.

Wolf's also visiting the state's emergency management headquarters and Emergency Operations Center.

He's being inaugurated Jan. 20.
