Temple Graduation Means Potential Traffic Woes

The largest class ever graduated from Temple University today and that could mean a traffic nightmare in North Philadelphia throughout the day.

The main Temple commencement is set to begin at 10 a.m. at the Liacouris Center at 1776 N Broad Street.

With more than 9,000 graduates from 57 different countries plus family, friends and faculty converging on the area plenty of traffic and parking issues were expected around the campus.

Temple suggested that people use the Cecil B Moore Station of the SEPTA Broad Street Line, SEPTA’s Temple University Regional Rail station, SEPTA’s No. 3 bus line or No. 23 trolley to get to the commencement ceremonies.

Anyone who drove was asked to park in designated zones for each school and college. Shuttles ran around the campus to ensure folks get not only to the main commencement but to any of 13 other smaller school graduations spread throughout the campus throughout the afternoon.
