A teen boy recovering from being hit by a vehicle days earlier rushed in to save a young girl who was struck by a car after exiting a school bus in Springfield Township, Delaware County, Wednesday afternoon.
Bradley Wright, 15, told NBC10 he was inside his apartment as a school bus dropped off his neighbor, a 7-year-old girl, on the 400 block of East Woodland Avenue around 3:30 p.m. The girl was crossing the street with her sisters while the school bus had its lights flashing and the "Stop" arm out, according to Wright. As the girl was walking, she was hit by an oncoming car.
"We were sitting right in the apartment eating dinner with our door open and we just heard a loud bang," Wright said. "So we went out. We looked out the door and I saw her laying on the ground so I told my dad to call 911. I ran out."
Wright said the girl wasn't breathing.
"First thing I did was check her pulse," Wright said. "When she wasn't breathing I started CPR."
The girl was taken to the hospital where she is currently in critical condition. The striking vehicle remained at the scene.
The crash occurred two days after Wright himself had been struck by a vehicle on the same road. He suffered a broken nose.

"It's just happening too often," Wright said. "The fact that it happened within a block in one week, two kids got hit, it's just a tragedy."
Wright told NBC10 there's been a problem with vehicles speeding on the road where the crash occurred.
"They don't watch when they're driving, especially on this street, they go really fast," Wright said. "They just need to slow down and not be distracted all the time. That goes for everywhere but mainly here it's a hazard."
Wright said he'd like to see speed bumps on his street or flashing signs alerting drivers of their speed.
NBC10 reached out to the school bus company but a spokesperson refused to comment.
Police continue to investigate the crash.
