Man Sentenced in Deadly New Jersey Turnpike Crash

A judge has sentenced a North Plainfield man to six years in prison for causing a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike that killed a passenger in his car.

Carlos Aguirre pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence in January.

The 24-year-old said he was intoxicated when he crashed his vehicle into the back of a tractor-trailer on the toll road in Woodbridge last year.

His passenger, 25-year-old Edward Galvez of North Plainfield, was killed.

Both vehicles were headed toward a service area.
