Rutgers Breaks Ground on Campus Redevelopment

Rutgers University has broken ground on a redevelopment project for its flagship New Brunswick campus.

Governor Christie was on hand Thursday with the New Brunswick Development Corporation and Rutgers officials to cut the ribbon for the College Avenue redevelopment initiative.

The $330 million private-public partnership involves redeveloping approximately ten acres of land in the heart of the New Brunswick campus.

The school plans to construct a new University Academic Building, a Residential Honors College, Rutgers Hillel, and the New Brunswick Theological Seminary.

They'll also be adding a new student apartment building, green space, and retail space for the Rutgers University and New Brunswick community.

The school says the state-of-the-art facility is part of the effort to make Rutgers a top-tier international research facility.
