Police Accuse New Jersey Teen of Obtaining Firearm Parts

Police say a boy in New Jersey who was on probation for possession of a handgun on school property obtained parts to assemble a semi-automatic rifle.

Galloway Township police arrested the 16-year-old on Wednesday. His name has not been released because he's a juvenile.

Officers say they seized all the parts and tools needed to assemble a functional AR-15 rifle. They did not find any ammunition.

Police also seized hollow point ammunition for a .40-caliber firearm, but they did not find a firearm capable of firing it.

The boy has been transferred to the Atlantic Youth Detention Center and is charged with possession of an assault firearm, tampering with evidence, credit card theft, wrongful impersonation and possession of cocaine.
