L&I Shuts Down Popular Center City Beer Garden

Philadelphia Business Journal

A 9,000-square-foot beer garden that opened early this month has been shut down by the Philadelphia Department of Licenses and Inspections.

Uptown Beer Garden, which opened on July 1 in the courtyard of the BNY Mellon Bank Center, has been shut down because it lacked a permit for two trailers parked on-site, according to Philly.com.

One of the trailers at the beer garden was used for portable restrooms, while the other was used for a bar.

Owner Teddy Sourias, who also owns Bru Craft & Wurst, U-Bahn and Finn McCools Ale House, told Philly.com he was not sure when the beer garden would open.
