Sixers Owner Apologizes for Helicopter Landing in Soccer Field

An owner of the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers and the NHL's New Jersey Devils is apologizing to two youth soccer teams after his helicopter landed on the field where they were going to play, forcing the game's cancellation.

Officials at a Newark prep school that lets Devils owner Josh Harris and others use its field say an apparent scheduling error was to blame.

The helicopter was at the school Sunday night to pick up Harris after a Devils game at the Prudential Center that went into overtime.

Harris says he understands the frustration of the soccer players' families because he's also spent many hours watching his kids play sports.

He said Wednesday such a mix-up won't happen again.

He's also inviting the teams and their families to be his guests at a Devils game.
