Miss America is back in Atlantic City today.

Nina Davuluri on Friday will announce the date for the next pageant in which her reign will end.

The Syracuse, N.Y., native was crowned Miss America in September in Atlantic City. The pageant, which originated in the Jersey shore resort in 1921, spent six years in Las Vegas before returning to New Jersey.

Davuluri is expected to stop at Atlantic City High School to encourage students to follow their dreams.

She is the second consecutive Miss New York to win the Miss America crown, succeeding Mallory Hagan, who was selected when the pageant was still held in Las Vegas.

Moments after winning, Davuluri described how delighted she is that the nearly century-old pageant sees beauty and talent of all kinds.

"I'm so happy this organization has embraced diversity," she said in her first news conference after winning the crown. "I'm thankful there are children watching at home who can finally relate to a new Miss America."
