Man Found Dead in Van Was Fatally Shot: Police

Delaware State Police say a man found dead in a van that drove off a highway in New Castle was shot to death.

Police announced late Sunday that the death of 32-year-old Shelton Johns of Wilmington has been classified as a homicide.

They say the cause of death was found to be gunshot wounds to the upper torso.

Troopers called to North DuPont Highway early Sunday found Johns and an injured woman in a van that had driven into a ditch.

Johns was pronounced dead on the scene and the 33-year-old woman was taken to a hospital.

Police say they found a second vehicle and other physical evidence nearby on Interstate-495 and are trying to determine if the two scenes are related.
