Deadly Chase, Police-Involved Shooting in Northampton County

Police officers pursued the driver of a pickup truck for more than three miles early Friday morning when the chase ended in a deadly incident in Northampton County, Pennsylvania.

The chase began after a traffic stop in Palmer Township, Pennsylvania and ended around 1 a.m. when the pickup truck crashed into a telephone pole near 13th and Spring Garden streets in Easton, Pennsylvania, authorities said.

At least one police officer fired shots at the accident scene, but it is unclear what prompted the gunfire.

The driver of the pickup truck was killed, officials said. Authorities have yet to say the cause of death.

Pennsylvania State Police will continue the investigation.
