A New Jersey man faces charges in Pennsylvania that he illegally obtained more than 13,000 oxycodone pills by passing dozens of prescriptions with phony names.
Robert Kosch Jr. of Bloomfield is accused of nearly 300 counts related to the use of fraudulent prescriptions from 2011-2012.
Authorities say John Manzella, an osteopathic physician in Pennsylvania, allegedly wrote prescriptions in Kosch's name and other people's names and then verified the prescriptions when Kosch went to pharmacies to have them filled. Many of the names on the prescriptions matched patient information found on notepads that were seized when authorities raided Kosch's office in northern New Jersey.
Manzella and Kosch were indicted last month by a Sussex County grand jury. Manzella is charged with conspiracy to allow the unlawful practice of medicine and forgery.
