A man led police on a chase from Philadelphia to Delaware County and then jumped out of his moving vehicle on I-476, investigators said. The search for the man closed I-476 for hours overnight.

The ordeal began around 8:20 p.m. Monday when police tried to pull the man over at Tyson and Torresdale avenues. Police said the driver didn't comply and they suspected he was intoxicated.

The man then continued driving as police pursued.

The Blue Route was closed for hours overnight as police searched for a man who jumped out of his moving SUV during a chase from Philly to Delaware County. NBC10’s Karen Hua has the details from Villanova.

SkyForce10 was over the scene as the man drove near a Lowe's store along 3800 Aramingo Avenue. As the chase continued, a tire on the man's vehicle popped, causing sparks to repeatedly fly.

The chase continued on I-95 southbound before the vehicle entered I-476 northbound near Springfield Township, Delaware County.

As the chase continued, the suspect jumped out of his vehicle on I-476 just past the Villanova exit and ran into a wooded area. Police continued to pursue the man on foot.

In the early morning hours Tuesday, Pennsylvania State Police said the driver is still on the run, however they do know who he is.

The search for him is no longer active, state police said, and I-476 is reopened.
