Jurors are going home for the weekend after failing to reach a verdict in the case of a man accused of stabbing to death a Pittsburgh police dog.
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported jurors deliberated for about four hours on Friday in the case of John Rush, accused of aggravated assault and other offenses.
In closing arguments, Rush's lawyer called the prosecution case impossible, while the prosecutor said Rush's version of events unbelievable and incredible.
Rush testified Thursday that he stabbed Rocco the dog in self-defense out of fear of the attacking animal. Rocco died two days after the attack.
