Jersey Voters Still Torn On Christie Presidency: Poll

A new poll shows a majority of New Jersey voters do not think Gov. Chris Christie would make a good president.

Thursday's Quinnipiac University survey finds 53 percent hold that view, versus 40 percent who think Christie would do a good job.

Forty-nine percent say the American electorate isn't ready for a "Jersey Guy" like Christie for president.

Voters at home say 50-44 he shouldn't run. Sixty-two percent say he should resign as governor if he does.

Christie says he'll make up his mind next year.

The poll also finds Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton has more favorable ratings than Christie and a list of other potential Republican contenders.

The survey of 1,340 registered voters has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.7 percentage points.
