Teen Boy Loses Leg After Trying to Jump on Freight Train

The boy was taken to the hospital and is currently in critical condition.

A teen boy is fighting for his life after his leg was cut off by a freight train in the Juniata section of Philadelphia Wednesday.

Police say the 13-year-old boy tried to jump on a CSX train that was riding on the Conrail tracks on 3600 Castor Avenue at 5:06 p.m. The teen missed however and his right leg was severed by the passing train.

The boy was taken to the hospital and is currently in critical condition.

SEPTA's Trenton Line was suspended in both directions due to the incident. Service was later resumed.
