Huge Pothole Causes Traffic Headache on 295

A large pothole on the northbound side of I-295 caused a rush-hour nightmare for drivers Tuesday.

The pothole was in the left lane near exit 31 (Woodcrest Station) in Haddonfield, N.J. in the area of an ongoing road improvement project, according to NJDOT.

The lane was shut down around 6:45 a.m. as repair crews got to the work. They had the hole patched up by 8:45, according to NJDOT.

But, by it was too late for commuters. The back up at one point was up to seven miles long, according to NJ.com.

It wasn’t exactly clear how big the hole was (even though it looked like two holes large enough to take out some tires) or what caused the pothole in the first place.
