A man and a woman were shot dead by law enforcement officers attempting to serve a warrant Tuesday morning at a Maryland motel, according to police officials.
The couple, identified as Brandon Jones, 25, and Chelsea Porter, 25, of Dover, Delaware, were inside a room at the New Eastern Inn along East Pulaski Highway in Elkton when officers arrived to serve them a warrant about 10:30 a.m., Maryland state police said.
When the officers identified themselves, the man was allegedly seen through a window grabbing what appeared to be a handgun, according to police.
Officers then retreated a bit and demanded that the suspect put down his gun, police said. But when he wouldn't, they said, officers shot him. The female suspect then allegedly came out of the room and pointed what appeared to be a gun at police, investigators said.

Police then shot her. Officers did initially believe another suspect may have been inside the room, but it was cleared a few hours after the initial shooting.
The weapons investigators initially believed to be guns turned out to be BB guns, according to a report by WBAL, a Baltimore television station.
Maryland state police said the couple was wanted on felony weapons charges out of Delaware, but authorities there could not immediately identify where the charges originated.
A law enforcement source in Delaware told NBC10 that the origin of the warrant was known and details would be released shortly.
