Boy, 16, Admits to Sex Assault, Sent to Juvenile Facility for Treatment

A 16-year-old boy who admitted he sexually assaulted a girl in the basement of an eastern Pennsylvania high school is being sent to a locked juvenile facility for sex offender treatment.

A Lehigh County judge delivered the sentence Wednesday.

The Morning Call of Allentown reports that the teenager didn't speak in court except to respond, ''yes ma'am,'' when responding to the judge. He was 15 at the time of the May 18 assault in Dieruff High School.

The 16-year-old victim and her mother were in the courtroom, but didn't testify.

The Allentown School District was rebuked by the U.S. Department of Justice last week in a 143-page court filing criticizing its handling of sexual harassment claims.
