The NBC10 First Alert weather team is closely tracking powerful storms that are moving through the area.
"The storm is moving fast and won’t stick around long in the same area," says Meteorologist Sheena Parveen.
A tornado watch issued through 10:00 p.m. was cancelled by 8:45 p.m. for our area.
Chief Meteorologist Glenn "Hurricane" Schwartz says conditions are favorable for perhaps 1 or 2 tornadoes to form, but he says we may not see any tornadoes at all.
However, when it comes to rain-- "some places are really getting pounded," says Schwartz. Besides that heavy rain, the storms could bring damaging winds, hail and lightning.
There's also a chance of thunderstorms for Friday and a look at the 7-day forecast shows our area will get hit with more storms over the next week.
