Harley-Davidson Turns Off Music at Factory

Company claims safety concerns behind decision.

Harley-Davidson has told workers at its plants, including one in central Pennsylvania, they will have to turn off the music on the factory floor.

The York Daily Records reports (http://bit.ly/YFZCnI) the maker of the iconic motorcycles made the announcement to employees last week. The last day for radios and piped-in music was Wednesday.

Harley officials say the music is a distraction and that it's important for the workers to be focused. Harley manufacturing vice president John Dansby II says it's important that the factory improve safety and quality performance.

About 1,000 people employees work at the plant in York.
