Heavy Rain Friday Poses Flood Threat in Pennsylvania, New Jersey & Delaware

Inches of rain could fall throughout the day

Motorists across the Philadelphia area were urged to slow down because of occasional heavy rain during a dreary Friday.

The NBC10 First Alert Weather Team issued a First Alert for Friday as the National Weather Service issued a Flood Watch for Philadelphia, the immediate suburbs, Berks County, the Lehigh Valley, South Jersey with the exception of the Jersey Shore and northern Delaware through late Friday.

Forecasters said 2 to 3 inches of rain could fall with as much as 4 inches in some parts. The heaviest rain is expected to move through the area from southwest to northeast from the afternoon into the evening, possibly leading to a messy end-of-the-work-week commute.

Flooding is possible along the coast as well as by streams and poor drainage areas.

The best advice is to give yourself more time to get around Friday.
